Problem report / further detail
I am on a bus from Philadelphia to Richmond, VA. Schedule * GLI****. **Let me set the scene by saying I had a lovely conversation with a very nice man sitting next to me and my backpack, which was under my legs and not bothering him a bit - I asked him - all the way from Philly to Baltimore. Too bad he got off there.**I have a disability, actually multiple disabilities, and am on Social Security Disability. The pertinent disability is that I had both hips replaced about a year ago and I need to stretch my legs out from time to time on long trips. In, Baltimore, I moved my seat to the front right hand seat against the window. More room for my legs. A Greyhound employee had been sitting in the seat next to that seat on the aisle. I had a backpack I put on the floor which she asked me to move. I did so and put it was under my legs. It was in no way touching her or in her seat area. I then asked her if she had a disability. She told me, in a rude tone of voice, "I am a driver and I can sit wherever I want." I asked again if she had a disability. She ignored me and turned her back to me. Then she got off the bus and got security. *By this time I had moved to the aisle seat behind the driver so I wouldn’t be next to the nasty driver*passenger. No one was sitting next to me. The Greyhound Security guy was apparently called by this woman. He came on the bus and repeatedly insisted I put my backpack under the bus. You are allowed one carry on. It is my only luggage - a backpack. I have work I need to do on the trip and asked to keep it with me as it was under my legs and not bothering any other passenger. I repeatedly asked why and told him I needed papers in the backpack to do work. (Had I been able to keep the backpack between my legs, under my seat, I would have been able to pull out one paper at a time to work on).*The Security person kept the demanding that I put my backpack under the bus. Nevertheless, I took out my computer and the papers so I could work on them during the trip so I could give him the backpack. They fit under my computer on my legs, i.e. my computer could easily have rested on them. The Greyhound Security man told me I was taking out too much paper and there would be no room for it. I told him I would put it on my lap under the computer or I would be glad to keep them in my backpack under my legs where they weren't bothering anyone else. *He called the police! A police officer came on the bus and asked me to put my backpack under the bus. I put the papers on my lap, under the computer and gave him the backpack (which they gave me to time to put a name tag on and as I’m sitting here on the bus in DC I don’t know if it’s safe or still there. *In Washington, D.C. the same rude driver*passenger let a woman sit next to her putting under her legs a duffel bag twice the size of my backpack AND a backpack the same size as mine.**This driver*passenger needs another job.
